GROUND BREAKING MOMENT FOR THE FRASER CENTRE

A key moment in the project to rebuild The Fraser Centre was celebrated this week marking the beginning of construction for the new facility.

The demolition of the old building is complete and representatives from The Fraser Centre Community Trust, Fa’side Area Partnership, Tranent & Elphinstone Community Council, and Fleming Buildings were on hand to officially ‘break the ground’ and mark the beginning of construction of the new community hub.

The Fraser Centre Community Trust Chair Jonny Russell: “This is a historic day in our project to rebuild The Fraser Centre. The Trust was created by people from the community and we are delighted to share this ‘ground breaking day’ with the Area Partnership and Community Council who have been very supportive to our project to build the new Fraser Centre for the town.”

Tranent & Elphinstone Community Council: “We are delighted to see the Fraser Centre reach this stage in their project. They have had to overcome many obstacles and have worked tirelessly in what has become a very long journey. We are looking forward to what will be a fantastic resource for the community and are happy to help and support in any way we can.”

Fa’side Area partnership: “Fa’side Area Partnership are proud to be supporting this hugely significant infrastructure project which will see the Fraser Centre re-built in the heart of Tranent. The community has indicated the creation of this new community facility is something they want to see succeed and are excited about the ongoing works.”

Fleming Buildings’ Director, Ronnie Burrows, said: “Hubs are important in bringing people together and offering a range of activities for all ages. We are delighted to be working on The Fraser Centre given the significant role it will play in the life of the local community.”

The new Fraser Centre is due to open in Autumn 2019 and will be a community hub for learning, development, arts & entertainment.
